Presentation will address the skills needed by front-line managers to influence and motivate direct reports
MOBILE, Ala. – AEU LEAD, a management consulting and developmental training organization for labor-intensive industries, announced today that Joe White, director, will be a featured speaker at two upcoming events for the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).
White will present on the topic of "The Practice of Front-Line Leadership: Six Critical Skills Required to Influence and Motivate Others" at IndySHRM Central, held in Indianapolis, Ind., on March 21, 2019, and at the Louisiana SHRM Annual Conference, held in Baton Rouge, La., on April 10, 2019.
The presentations will address the need for supervisors to have the skills required to gain buy-in, support, and commitment from direct reports for various initiatives and work practices. White will review six practical skills that can be immediately applied for the benefit of participants and the companies they represent.
"People are usually hired or promoted into management roles because of their technical skills. Unfortunately, these don't often correlate to strong leadership skills," said White. "For a supervisor to be successful, he or she needs to learn the ability to influence others through action and leading by example rather than implied authority."
As director of AEU LEAD, White specializes in preparing foremen, supervisors, and lead personnel for people-related responsibilities and the challenges routinely faced in their positions. He has a combined total of 28 years of experience in operations and consulting. He is a published author and has spoken at numerous industry conferences including the National Safety Council (NSC) Congress and Expos, American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), and National Maritime Safety Association (NMSA).
Registration details for both SHRM events are available at aeulead.com/events.
